My Reading for today

In my Bible reading plan for today I had to read Leviticus 14:33-57 and Mark 9:30-37. I noticed one thing in each of these readings this moring. First, in Leviticus: I, and I am sure many others, find a lot of the Old Testament hard to read. In Leviticus there are written a lot of old covenant rules that God's chosen people had to follow. I just thank the good Lord that this is the old Covenant and not the new Covenant! In Leviticus 14:50-51 it is talking about how to cleanse a house contaminated with mold. It states: "He shall kill one of the birds over fresh water in a clay pot. Then he is to take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn and the live bird, dip them into the blood of the dead bird and the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times."

Now I am, once again reverting to my notes written in the margin.( and once again it is more than likely teaching by Rev. Gordon Poley) The note says the 2 birds represent death and resurrection and the running water represents the Holy Spirits work. I am sure there is a meaning for the clay pot, the cedar wood, and the hyssop also. I find it amazing how God entertwins His complete plan into the OT teaching.

The other thing that spoke to me this moring is how, in Mark 19:33-35, When Christ asked his disciples, "What were you arguing about on the road?" and they did not respond because they had be arguing about who was the greatest. Then as they sat down Christ states, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." Christ already knew what they were arguing about. He didn't really have to ask. Maybe he was testing them to see what their response would be. I can't help but think that Jesus was smiling to himself and wondering if this was going to 'hit home' with his disciples.

No matter what we try to hide from Christ, he already knows, so we may as well fall on our knees before him, confess our sins and let Christ draw closer to us and heal us and teach us.
