Getting caught up on some reading!

I have been using a 2 year reading plan for reading through the Bible. With the kids all coming for Easter week-end I am trying to get ahead of the reading. This moring two things caught my eye: first, in Leviticus 6:13, where the Lord is giving Moses instruction on the "Burnt Offering", it is stated in verse 13 "The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out." This made me wonder! Maybe it is a message for me/us for today, too. We must never let our fire go out, our fire for God. We must keep it burning continuously so that he may accomplish, through us, everything he has planned for us.

The second thing that caught my eye was a notation that I had written in the margin. Probably notes from some of Rev. Gordon Poley's teaching. In Leviticus 8 it is telling about the Ordination of Aaron and his sons. In Verse 23 it states "Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot."
I guess before this teaching I would have wondered, "Huh! What's that all about?" The notes I have written in the margin state what this represents. Blood on the ear for obedience, blood on the hand for service and blood on the foot for their walk. With Easter coming up let us not forget that Christ shed his blood for us, to clense us so that we might be free and one day live with him eternally. Until then let us be obedient to him, serve him and walk with him. Happy Easter!
