Ephesians 5:15-16
Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity
Ephesians 6:6-8
Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly,as if you were serving then Lord, not men because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.
What I especially like about the first verse is the part that says, "making the most of every opportunity". We need to be always aware of who is around us and the Christian influence we can have on others. We need to be focused on God so that we are prepared on an instant's notice to be a witness for him, whether it is speaking or simply our actions.
In the second verse, I think mainly of Howard. We both would love to be retired but that is just not possible at this time. There are days when he does not like getting up and going to work, especially when it is slow. Once he gets there he is fine, it is just the getting there. I went through a period at my work where I felt the same way and this is very similar to what I used to pray, focusing on God. I read it to Howard this morning.
