Berry Basket Afghan
Pattern – Free
I got the original pattern for this off of Ralvery. It was a
free Dishcloth pattern. When I attempted to turn it into a baby afghan I did
run into some problems and had to play around with it to get it to work out
right. I’m once again wanting to use this pattern for an afghan, only this time
it is a full size afghan.
The original pattern had 4 sections of pattern in
it but what I found confusing was the first section, of course started on the
right side of the afghan. But since there are only 5 rows in each section, the
next pattern change started on the wrong side of the afghan; the third section
on the right side and the final section on the wrong side again. I decided to
add a row to each section so that each pattern change would start on the right
side. Plus, I re-wrote it so that it would be a little easier to change up the
size of the afghan and keep the consistent
pattern.
I
will be putting a seed stitch border on my afghan. Knitting 6 rows to keep in
sync with the number of rows in each section of the pattern and making the side
borders 5 stitches, again to keep in sync with the patter. (I’m all about consistency lol)
For you to figure out the number of stitches you want to use for your afghan it needs to be a multiple of 20, plus 15 stitches. (10 of these
stitches are the 5 stitches on each side for the border.)
These directions do not include the border stitches
